The Yachting Monthly

Perhaps the best source for anecdotes about the ML's and the men serving aboard them is the magazine The Yachting Monthly which, during the latter part of the war years, adopted the name The Yachting Monthly and Magazine of the R.N.V.R. (learn more about the history of The Yachting Monthly here). Given the nature of the magazine, and of the officers serving aboard the ML's, it seems only right that they should use the magazine as a forum for recounting their adventures in word and illustration. Contained here are the collected stories, illustrations, cartoons, brief anecdotes, and "Unofficial" postings from The Yachting Monthly during the war years. I've limited the list to things pertaining to the ML and its crew. The magazine's scope ranged across the entire world of the RNVR—much of which is beyond the immediate scope of this site. As I transcribe articles from the war-year issues of the magazine I'll include them here.

A word of acknowledgement here for the staff of the G.W. Blunt White Library at Mystic Seaport who have demonstrated patience beyond the call of duty as I've sat for hours researching and requesting photocopies of a seemingly endless array of pages from their marvelous collection of The Yachting Monthly which extends back to the very first 1906 issue.
