Officers of the Rhine Flotilla gather with Gen. Sir Douglas Haig
In Cologne, Germany, 1919. Probably taken at the Cologne Watersports club house where the officers of the Rhine Flotilla were billeted. Others present include Gen. Sir Herbert Plumer (to Haig's immediate right) who commanded the Army of the Occupation of the Rhine until April, 1919, and, to Haig's left, Commander, the Hon. P.G.E.C. Acheson, R.N. who had initial command of the Rhine Flotilla.
I believe that the two regular navy lieutenants at the ends of the front row are Lieut. L.S.S. Farrant, R.N. and Lieut. Stanley F.H. Laidlaw, R.N. who were the only two regular navy lieutenants in the flotilla at this time.
